So I made a promise that I would tell a story that happened to me. I guess it turns out that I have loads of interesting events happen to me and I just don’t see it. XD

I while ago, maybe a few months to a year at the most, My oldest cousin got married. …...Yay, happy day and all that jazz….. But I think it was after the ceremony my other cousin, my step brother and I were getting restless.

As you can imagine there isn’t much to do in an old ghost town in the middle of Wyoming.
(for those of you that do not know, Wyoming is basically………..a state made out of dry mud, with lots and lots of really strong wind) I do not know why they had their wedding there, but they did. XD

Picture a classic old west ghost town, and you get pretty close. The place where they had their after party was literally twenty feet from a closed down wheat factory…...0_o

We got bored, and decided to ditch the party (after I changed out of my dress XP) and poke around the “main street”. (remember old west) The main street was mostly a few shops, a dinar and a hotel…...All shut down…...big surprise I know. XD

But my cousin hannah was very adventures, and my brother is kinda easily swayed, and I am……..REALLY FREAKING BORED!!!!! So we decide to break into one of these old, abandoned buildings. Specifically the hotel. XD What we did was we went along the back of the property and found a hole in the “No Trespassing” chain link fence.

The hole didn’t look like it had been cut, It looked like it had been torn to shreds for some reason…...I don’t know. But we all get on to the property. This hotel has been shut down for like 30 years…...Its not in very good shape. There were two buildings, one was the actual hotel for the gusts and such, and one looked to be some sort of storage building. I guess the basements used to connect to each other using a tunnel. But the tunnel had collapsed and we go into the basements of both building like that.

We weren’t dumb (mostly) and we brought glow sticks so we could see. (that is where the mostly comes in…….No flashlight!?!?!) but the glow sticks were crap and we couldn’t see how far back the basement went or what was in it…...

So we would throw the glowsticks out into the basement ahead of us and pray that we didn’t run into anything/anyone down there…….we didn’t…...well I didn’t. XD

My cousin wasn’t paying attention and ran into a wooden support beam for the building…….and it cracked. 0.o yah we are not smart…….

So there was not really anything interesting in the basement of the main building ( I did find a few gears that I thought were neat) BUT we also went into the smaller, storage shed, basement. I was basically just a long passageway made of really old brick, and old pipes hanging down. (I had to keep reminding my freakishly tall brother to duck the pipes because I could see just fine and they couldn't XD)

About half way, I saw an old radiator against the wall and I thought it was pretty cool. But behind it was this thing that was COVERED in sticky, black spiderwebs. And I wanted to know what it was. So I took my sleeve and rubbed some off.

I was a huge fire extinguisher. This thing was huge. It was nearly as tall as me. so about 4 feet tall. 0.o I stripped m jacket off and cleaned the rest of the junk off of it and saw that this thing was really old.

It was silver, with an old style turn top to turn it on. It was bolted to the wall and I made my brother take it off because I couldn’t lift it by myself.

We took it outside and I rubbed more of it off and cleaned it until they could read the plaque on it too.

I don’t remember what it said fully but it was something like
“Thank you for your assistance in the fire of 1893.”

We were all surprised that something this old was just sitting in an old basement while everything collapsed around it.

We showed our parents who were there and they said to take it back……..

We didn’t…….A few blocks down there was an outside museum, with an old boxcar train and some scythes. We went down there and talked to the owner of the museum. We gave it to him and placed it next to an old wagon.

He thanked us after the fact and told us that he had been trying to get into those buildings for years, but no one would go in……..( I also gave him the gears and he said he was restoring something and that I gave him the missing pieces XD how cool is that?!?)

So yah…..thats my story. XD Hope you guys enjoyed it, and If you ever want to break into building with me, just call me up. (bring a flashlight!!!!!)
Don't do this alone. XD at least bring me with you.

That is a totally cool experience.  I am glad that you gave it to the museum, but it may have had some value.

Maybe you could Google the town name and fire of 1893.
